Product Update: January 2025
This month, we’re introducing key enhancements to help merchants drive net terms applications and adoption, provide better credit visibility to buyers, and streamline vendor payouts. With customized drip campaigns, a new credit widget in the Buyer Portal, and auto payouts that can now be batched, these updates improve buyer engagement, credit limit transparency, and payout efficiency.
Boost Credit Application Completion with Customized Drip Campaigns.
Keep buyers in the flow with tailored, automated emails.
Balance’s credit application is designed to be seamless and fricitonless–and now, we’ve made it even easier for buyers to complete both qualification and activation with customized drip campaigns.
These automated emails guide buyers back to where they left off in the qualification or activation process, providing relevant explanations and messaging at each stage.
Why Customization Matters?
Every business has a unique buyer base and credit program. That’s why Balance enables customized campaigns—ensuring the messaging aligns with your brand and resonates with your buyers. Beyond including your logo and program name, emails are tailored to your program value propositions, messaging, and supporting content (program landing page & FAQs) so they drive higher engagement and completion rates.
Proven Results: Merchants using these campaigns have seen a 16.2% increase in terms revenue, driven by the campaign’s impact on activations (+16%) and submitted applications (+5%).
In the next few weeks, we will enable this capability for all customers using the default drip campaign. Speak with your account manager if you are looking for a customized campaign.
Now Live: Credit Widget in the Buyer Portal.
Give buyers a clear, real-time view of their credit limit status.
We’ve added a new Credit Widget to the Buyer Portal, giving buyers complete visibility into their credit terms and limits—all in one place. This enhancement ensures buyers always know their credit limit status, making it easier to manage payments and maximize their purchasing power, while also helping drive more completed applications and activations.
For merchants offering net terms to all buyers, the widget can appear before application, prompting buyers to apply via a call-to-action in the payment portal. If an application is in progress, buyers can resume seamlessly. Before activation, approved buyers are prompted to activate their account.
After activation, the widget displays their net terms period and available credit, updating dynamically as payments restore credit. If a limit is suspended, the widget reflects that status. Buyers also receive updates on credit limit or net terms changes, keeping them informed.
By providing a clear, real-time view of credit status, this new widget helps buyers manage their payments more effectively while making it easier for merchants to support and engage buyers.
Enhancement: Auto Payouts Can Now Be Batched.
Faster Vendor Payments—Now with Auto Payouts
Released a few months ago, Batch Payouts & Debits streamlines vendor payments by consolidating all payouts and debits into a single net payout or debit at the end of each business day. This eliminates the need for vendors to wait three days for debit settlements before receiving their payout—allowing them to get paid on the same day instead.
Beyond faster payments, the batch payments mechanism also enhances:
Reliability – Includes an automatic retry process, attempting the payout up to 5 times in case of failure.
Efficiency – Reduces the number of individual payouts and debits, streamlining payment processing
What’s New?
Now, Auto Payouts can be batched too—combining the benefits of automation with the efficiency of daily batching.
How It Works
When a merchant marks a transaction for auto payout, an immediate payout is not triggered upon payment.
Instead, the payout is added to the end-of-day batch and processed when the batch runs.
If a vendor has multiple payouts and debits scheduled for the same day, they are aggregated into a single net payout or debit, reducing transaction volume and ensuring faster vendor payments.
With this enhancement, you get the best of both worlds—automated payouts combined with a faster, more efficient payment process that ensures your vendors get paid without delay.
