Product Updates: September 2026
In September, we gave you more control over who can do what in your account, more self-service tools for your buyers, and clearer visibility across your program.
Here's what's new.
Control who can do what in your dashboard
Give each team member the access they need, and limit sensitive actions to the people responsible for them. From the new Roles tab in the dashboard, admins can create roles and set permissions for actions such as creating a transaction, matching a payment to an open invoice, accessing a buyer’s payment portal link, and deleting a buyer’s payment method. Admins assign a role to each new user when they add them.
Role management is now available to all merchants.
Let buyers apply multiple credit memos when they pay
Your buyers can now use their available credit on their own, which means less manual work for your team. In the payment portal, buyers can search for and select the credit memos they want, then apply as many as they need across multiple open invoices. Each credit memo stays scoped to its vendor, so it applies only to that vendor's invoices.
Not using credit memos yet? Contact your account manager to get access.
Help buyers strengthen requests for higher credit limits
Help your buyers grow their purchasing power with you. In the payment portal, buyers can now include several types of information in one credit limit increase request, such as a connected bank account and uploaded financial reports. A progress tracker marks each step as buyers complete it, and they can pick up where they left off if they step away.
Coming soon: requirements that adapt to the size of each request.
Customize how buyers add payment methods with the new widget
Give your buyers an updated, easy way to add a credit card or link a US or Canadian bank account for future payments. The new Payment Method Widget (version 3.0) has a refreshed design and new configuration options. You can set the currency, choose whether to collect a billing address, and allow manual address entry. Embed the widget directly in your app, or send buyers a hosted link to add a payment method on their own.
Ready to upgrade? See the guide or contact your account manager.
Give buyers a full payment history with the new Payments page
Let your buyers track the payments they’ve made on their own, without reaching out to your team. The new Payments page in the payment portal lists each successful payment and the number of invoices it covered. Buyers can click any payment to see the full list of invoices it paid and download a receipt.
Offer early payment discounts that reward buyers for paying ahead
Give buyers a reason to pay before their due date. You can now add a fixed-dollar discount to a transaction through the Balance API, with a deadline set as a specific date or a number of days after you create the transaction. Buyers see the discount in the payment portal, and when they pay the full remaining balance by the deadline, Balance automatically reduces the charge. The invoice amount doesn’t change, so your billing records stay intact. Buyers who miss the deadline pay the full amount.
Early payment discounts are currently available for deferred payment transactions paid by ACH debit or credit card. Contact your account manager to get started.
Know where every vendor stands with detailed account status
Vendor profiles in the merchant dashboard now show more detail about each vendor's account status at every stage, from missing onboarding documents to liens that pause payouts. When a lien is active, the profile shows the lien amount, the lien holder, the steps needed to release it, and who can resolve it.
You’ll also get an email when a vendor updates its onboarding information, so you know right away when it has taken action.
ADDITIONAL ENHANCEMENTS
Qualify for lower card processing fees with SKU-level data
Help your card payments qualify for lower processing fees. Balance now passes the SKU details from your transaction line items to the card networks, along with other Level 3 data.
Help buyers find invoices with line-item search
Buyers can now search paid and unpaid invoices in the payment portal using free text from their line items, such as a product description or model number.
